We use a new custom made plunge surpressor to engage the plunger with more resistance. The overall effect is compared to having a mechanical valvetrain, while the benefits of tolerance and take-up of a hydraulic valvetrain. These lifters are an excellent choice (if not a must) for those installing a new pair of camshafts.
